Review : Srimannarayana – Fight for farmers money
Release date: 30
August 2012
cinefly.blogspot.in
Rating : 3/5
Director : Ravi C
Kumar
Producer : Ramesh
Puppala
Music Director :
Chakri
Starring : Bala
Krishna, Parvathi Melton, Isha Chawla
Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Srimannarayana’ has released today
across the world. Parvathi Melton and Isha Chawla are the leading ladies while
Ravi Chavali is the director. The movie has been produced on Yellow Flowers
Entertainment banner. Let us see how it is.
Story :
Srimannarayana (Balakrishna) is a courageous and aggressive
journalist who fights for justice. He exposes the various scams of an evil gang
comprising of Minister Bylu Reddy (Jayaprakash Reddy) , Harshad Kotari (Suresh)
and Pulikeshava Reddy (Supreeth). The gang loses a lot of money because of
Srimannarayana’s activities.
In the meantime, Kalki Narayana Murthy (Vijaykumar) is seen
as a social activist who fights for the welfare of farmers. He also happens to
be Srimannarayana’s father and he forms a Jai Kisan Trust for the welfare of
farmers. Public responds in a big way to this initiative and the fund receives
donations to the tune of 5000Crores. Bank officer Rajan Mudaliar (Kota
Srinivasa Rao) , Corporate Hospital chief Srikar Prasad (Nagineedu) and IG
Marthand (Rao Ramesh) also support the initiative.
But just as the funds are about to be put to use, Narayana
Murthy dies in mysterious circumstances. The amount of 5000 Crores goes
missing. Suspicion falls on Srimannarayana and he is arrested. From the jail,
Srimannarayana must fight to prove his innocence and trace the missing money.
He is shocked to find a trail of betrayal and greed. Will Srimannarayana
succeed in recovering the money for the benefit of farmers? That forms the
story.
Plus Points :
Balakrishna is good in the role of an angry journalist. He
has done well in the emotional scenes and his dialogue delivery is impressive
as always. His pre-interval costume in white robes is good. Isha Chawla looks
good and has sufficient oomph to attract the masses. She has good potential as
an actress and will go a long way in the industry if she takes care of her
career well.
Comedy scenes between Balakrishna, Parvati Melton, Duvvasi
Mohan and Isha Chawla are a major highlight for the film. Dialogues for these
episodes have been cleverly written and the hidden double meanings will work
with the masses.
Vijaykumar is decent. Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jayaprakash Reddy
and Rao Ramesh are good. Nagineedu does not have much to do but he turns in a
dignified performance. Krishna Bhagawan and M.S.Narayana have a few good
moments between them.
Concept of the film and basic story line has appeal.
Balakrishna’s dialogues on scams and the CBI evoked a good response from the
public. The last song “Aaru Adugula” is good and has been shot well.
Minus Points :
Care should have been taken with respect to Balakrishna’s
wigs and costumes in songs. Also, there is no justification in the story for
Balakrishna to appear in various costumes except for the Narasimha Swamy look.
Parvati Melton looks uncomfortably thin, almost anorexic.
She is a major turn off and her glamour has all but disappeared. She needs to
put on some weight immediately.
The second half of the film and the climax are weak points.
Climax in particular is highly cliched and does not bring about any interest in
the film. Also, the CBI does not seek to investigate the destination account to
which the 5000 Crores were transferred. It is a matter of simple logic to
checkout the account to which money was transferred illegally.
Some scenes where Balakrishna moves in and out of the jail
with ease look silly.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is good and the visuals have a nice feel to
them. Editing is ok. Chakri’s music has nothing to write home about but
background score is alright. Dialogues are good in places. Choreography could
have been better
Ravi Chavali does not impress too much with his direction.
He has managed to do a good job in a few scenes but overall, better care should
have been taken. He has not pulled off the emotional aspects of the story well.
Verdict :
Srimannarayana is a film that has the content to satisfy
Balakrishna’s fans. For regular movie goers, the movie is a very routine fare.
A good performance from Balakrishna and some mass comedy scenes will strike a
chord with the masses. The concept of farmer welfare will also appeal to some.
A better second half and a more interesting climax would have helped.

Sanjay Dutt remaking Balayya film in RFC
The trend of Bollywood re-making super hit films from Tamil
and Telugu movies is not new, and the latest in this list will have Sanjay Dutt
in the lead role. This Bollywood star will appear in the re-make of
Balakrishna’s hit film ‘Lakshmi Narasimha’ The movie’s director will be from
the south too, K.S. Ravi Kumar and it is being produced by T.P. Aggarwal.
Prachi Desai of ‘Rock On’ fame will play the lead role opposite Sanjay.
Starting Monday, the production team began filming in Ramoji
film city for the movie and will continue to stay there for about 48 days until
a majority of the filming is done. The scenes in the story involving the Deputy
Commissioner of Police have already been filmed and the flashback is set to be
filmed here in Hyderabad. Prakash Raj will play the villainous role in the
film, while Om Puri, Murali Sharma, Mukesh Tiwari and others will appear in key
roles.
Soul stirring music in Venky – Mahesh film
Victory Venkatesh and Superstar Mahesh Babu will be seen
together in the most eagerly awaited multistarrer - ‘Seethamma Vakitlo
Sirimalle Chettu’. Latest reports from Filmnagar indicate that the movie’s
music will be quite soul stirring. The audio album scored by Mickey J Meyer
will have a good mix of Indian melodies and western beats, as per the news
being heard by us.
SVSC is being readied for a December release and Srikanth
Addala is the director of the film. Dil Raju is producing this prestigious
project and Prakash Raj will be seen in a crucial role. Samantha and Anjali are
playing the female leads in the movie.
So with a good family drama, soul stirring music and the
presence of two top heroes sharing screen space, SVSC looks all set to create a
sensation when it releases.
Ravi Teja looking to re-invent himself
Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja was once the undisputed ‘minimum
guarantee’ hero of our Industry. His movies used to have a good ‘collections vs
cost’ ratio and he was loved by both Producers as well as movie lovers. But all
that has changed over the past few years and Ravi Teja has not been getting a
hit befitting his stature.
A key point being heard in movie circles is that Ravi Teja’s
on screen characters are becoming too repetitive. Looks like Ravi Teja too is
thinking along similar line as the buzz in Filmnagar is that Ravi Teja is
seriously looking to reinvent himself. He is trying out something new with ‘Sir
Osthara’, where Parasuram has given him the character of a football coach. For
his future projects, Ravi Teja is reportedly looking at fresh scripts and
different characterizations.
Let us hope that Ravi Teja finds his form quickly and
regains his glory as an entertaining Mass Maharaja of Tollywood.
Rajamouli congratulates Sudden Star
Ace director S.S.Rajamouli has congratulated the Sudden Star
and his team. In case you are wondering who that is, it is Allari Naresh and he
has used that title in his film Sudigaadu. “congratulations bheemineni garu and
team! sudigadu is expected 2collect more than double the naresh’s top grossers
keep going SUDDEN STAR:)” , tweeted Rajamouli.
Sudigaadu has been getting the appreciation of the many
artistes and technicians despite being a satire on the industry itself. The
good humor and absence of any malice behind the satires is the reason for it.
From his end, Rajamouli has started working on the script of
his new project like we reported a few days earlier.
Salman Khan smashes 200Cr barrier
Salman Khan is well
and truly the Baadshah of Bollywood. The handsome hunk, who has been the King
of the Eid season over the last few years, has smashed his way past the 200
crore mark with ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. The movie has turned in a worldwide collection
of 210 + Crores nett. In India alone,
the figure stands at a mind boggling 175 Crores Nett for 12 days, very close to
the lifetime record of approximately 202
Crores nett set by Aamir Khan’s ’3 Idiots’.
The movie is only in its 12th day and with such phenomenal
collections are leaving everyone stunned. Salman plays Indian RAW agent Tiger
while Katrina Kaif plays the role of a Pakistani ISI agent. The movie has been
produced by Yash Raj Films.
Congratulations to Salman Khan
Pawan – Puri combo gets great overseas offers
Power Star Pawan Kalyan is teaming up with maverick director
Puri Jagan for ‘Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu’ and the movie is getting very
fancy offers from overseas buyers. The movie is being released in USA by
producer Danayya himself.
Australia and New Zealand rights were bagged for a fancy
price of 30 lakhs by Elixir India Entertainments, beating the previous record
held by Gabbar Singh comfortably. UK rights were picked up for Rs 30 lakhs by
Colours Media. Bumper prices are being recorded for other areas too.
With all these numbers, it is clear that Pawan and Puri’s
combo is going great guns before release. Tamanna is the heroine in this film
and Mani Sharma is scoring the music.
Sudigaadu’s stunning Ceded Collections
Comedy King Allari Naresh’s ‘Sudigaadu’ has turned in a
stunning Ceded collection for three days. The movie has collected a share of
about Rs. 1.10 Crores for Ceded area in 3 days, making it a terrific opening
for Allari Naresh. The numbers are on par with collections of bigger heroes.
The movie is being very well received by people who watch
films very regularly, as the spoofs are connecting big time with such crowds.
Bheemaneni Srinivasa Rao is the director of the film and Monal Gajjar is the
heroine.
We will update other area collections soon.
